beyondblue is looking for volunteers to assist at the beyondblue Cup (NT Thunder V Sturt Football Club) game on Friday, 19th March 2010.
We require volunteers to meet us at 5pm at TIO Stadium to assist with handing out beyondblue wristbands to patrons as they arrive for the game. We will supply a beyondblue Cap and T-shirt for volunteers to wear and a ticket to the game after we have finished distributing material (the game starts at 7.00pm).
beyondblue has a partnership with AFL NT and this is a great opportunity to raise awareness of depression through the distribution of our materials at the game.
If you or anyone you know may be interested, please email your name, contact details (including mobile number) and t-shirt size to brooke.ward@beyondblue.org.au by 5th March. Brooke will then be in touch to confirm the details.
SEASON LAUNCH
The 2010 Season Launch will be held at TIO Stadium in Darwin on Saturday 10th April (day after Rd 1 match vs Brisbane Lions). Stay tuned for more information and event details.

NT THUNDER PLAYING LIST
NT Thunder is pleased to announce that one of their rising stars Deon Gordon has re-signed with the club for the 2010 season. Gordon who was invited to attend the AFL’s national draft camp is on the comeback after a knee reconstruction halted his chances of playing the back end of the 2009 season. Gordon who turns 19 next month will be doing everything he can to rebound from his season ending injury with an aim of returning to the classy form he showed last season.
Another young talent in Darwin Buffs Club Champion Shaun Wilson has also signed on for the 2010 season. A hard running wingman or half back Wilson who turns 19 in May played 16 out of a possible 18 games with the Darwin Buffs after crossing from Wanderers where he played in their 08/09 Grand Final side as a 17 year old.
So far 37 players have signed on for the 2010 season and with 8 spots still available on the primary list and up to 10 spots on the supplementary list things are looking positive for the 2010 season. The average age of the list is just under 21 so everyone is excited by the enthusiasm and attitude of all the players currently training.
SATELLITE PROGRAMS
NT Thunder Head Coach Murray Davis has recently returned from Central Australia, Katherine & Tiwi Islands where Satellite Programs are being set up under the NT Thunder Football Club. In each of these regions talented players are being given opportunities to showcase their talent and skills. Similar programs will also be run in Groote Eylandt, Galiwinku & Gove. Territory Thunder represents the whole of the Territory and it’s important that we continue to set the standard of what’s required to play for the NT Thunder. These satellite programs with the assistance of qualified staff, will be able to match what the Darwin squad is doing in terms of their training and physical conditioning. Through these programs we hope to identify players who will become regular NT Thunder players and provide role models within their communities.
