HEALTHY END TO THE 2010 GAMES IN ALICE SPRINGS
Thunder have finished their 2010 campaign in Alice Springs with another 4 points on the board and a handy boost in percentage as finals quickly approach.
Centralians were treated to a gallant Thunder win on Saturday as the territorians took down the Western Magpies by a healthy 80 points. In what was the final game in Alice Springs for 2010 the Thunder squad have held on to 4th position and given their percentage a very handy boost.
Head Coach Murray Davis said “The comprehensive victory was some what soured with injuries to key players Jake Dignan and Shaun Tapp. Both took no further part in the game after injuring themselves during the 2nd quarter. With 2 Seventeen year old debutants in Jarred Erlandson and 23rd player Louis Egger showing plenty of talent our leaders in Shannon Rusca both Iletts and regular senior players Darren Ewing & Bradley Palipuaminni really showed their class.
“It was another even team performance which was the most pleasing factor in that despite our lack of rotations every player played to the best of their ability. The week off now comes at a very important time as we look to gain some key players back from injury and freshen a few of our players up that have worked hard to enjoy the break” added Davis.
With a bye this weekend all the players will enjoy a much deserved break and the chance to freshen up for the final four games of the season. Thunder’s next two games are in QLD against the Brisbane Lions and Aspley Hornets, while the final two games in the race to finals will be played at Gardens Oval against the Labrador Tigers and Broadbeach Cats.
